The robust Utah town of Midway is located in northwestern Wasatch County about 3 miles west of Heber City and 20 miles southeast of Salt Lake City on the opposite side of the mountain range. It’s home to about 4800 residents. 

Midway got its start back in 1824 and began development throughout the decades with important civic improvements made in the 1930s and 40s. Agriculture was the prime industry in Midway but recreation has fast become an important aspect of the area’s economy. Midway features several golf courses, the Dear Creek Reservoir, the Wasatch Mountain State Park, and the Olympic Venue Soldier Hollow home to the world-class cross-country skiing, tubing, and one of the largest golf courses in the state. 

While it’s primarily a recreational community, there are folks that call Midway home year-round. It offers great schools, a year-round ice rink, a vibrant Parks and Recreation department with summer and winter camps, and multiple festivals throughout the year including the famous Swiss Days. This event was started in 1947 designed to promote city improvements and activities and today it attracts large crowds to the Midway community. It takes place in three towns with Swiss heritage, Berne Indiana, Midway Utah, and Santa Clara Utah.

Midway Schools

School-age children are assigned to the Wasatch County school district, which receives excellent awards and accolades from parents and students alike. The top schools include Midway school, Old Middle school, Wasatch high school, and Rocky Mount in middle school.
